In the spring of 2000 I made a series of monoprints, and prints made from rubber stamps that I carved. The inspiration for this series was my cemetery photos. I have continued the series, and I have started to look to other sources for inspiration. Monoprints are made by rolling ink onto a sheet of glass or plexi, then manipulating the ink by drawing into it and removing or thinning it out with water. The effect is a cross between a linoleum block print or etching and a watercolor painting. Each print is one of a kind. In some instances I double printed, colored with marker, or drew onto the print. The prints made with rubber stamps can be made in multiple editions, although each print has its own unique variations.
